I reviewed this book on Amazon and Goodreads in exchange for my free copy. The novel Victoria is an interesting look at the life of a young girl who becomes a Queen. It is an engaging story that lets the reader join Victoria as she grows up and develops an understanding of relationships and her duties. She is very immature and still plays with dolls at first but then she leans through some mistakes and from her mentor the prime minister. She also matures into a young wonan who learns what it's like to fall in love and find a future that will be accepted in her kingdom.
I was interested in seeing if she would be wronged by those who wished to control her life and her wealth, but she does manage to overcome her obstacles. The book lacks some more steamy romance than others like it, but that does make this book suitable for a wide audience of readers. I felt that the book did drag on in some chapters but it does seem realistic. I enjoyed that this story is based on Queen Victoria's own diaries, and this brings authenticity to the story. I just would have preferred a little more dramatic action and a quicker telling of some parts of the story.
